Midweek Message – June 10, 2026

Worship this week will be special! We are baptizing Ali Nobari, Joan Clark and Jackie Clark are singing a duet, and Poppy Mason is sharing her musical gifts with us once again! The scripture is Acts 8:26-39; it’s the story of the Ethiopian eunuch who has an encounter with Philip who speaks to him about Jesus, and wants to know if he can be baptized. The phrase, ‘Look, here is water!’ rings down through the centuries and into our ears when someone comes with a passionate desire to follow the way of Jesus. You will hear some of Ali’s story in my reflection.

My Week

Sunday – Even though I was still officially on vacation, I was present and participated in the joint service at Cole Harbour Woodside United Church. For those of you who don’t know, CHWUC is my ‘home’ church, the one that I attended as a lay person and the one that I was a candidate for ministry from, so it’s always a special joy to return there. There were great reflections from Rev. Mary Lynne Whyte, Rev. Michael Mugford, and Rev. Stephen Fram on Deep Spirituality, Bold Discipleship, and Daring Justice respectively. A 50 person choir sang a beautiful rendition of For the Beauty of the Earth!

Monday – Lots to catch up on after 2 weeks away and with only a little over 2 weeks left in my ministry with you folks. Emails, phone calls, right into worship planning, finishing off my Interim Ministry Report and sending it in. It was a bit of whirlwind!

Tuesday – While I almost always spend a bit of time at Food Bank, they were down 3 people today, so I spent a chunk of time there. I’ve updated the website with photos from May. created the poster you see above. Did the initial work for a workshop with some of the leadership of the church on Building a Healthy Relationship With Your Next Minister.

Wednesday – I have some visits to make and hopefully a draft of my reflection.

Thursday – I have some more visits booked, and hopefully finish my reflection.

Saturday – I’m at AST with the final students leading through a session on Beginnings and Endings.
