We continue with our Spotting Joy series or The Joy Hidden in the Parables! The scripture this week is Matthew 13:1–23, the story of the sower. My reflection title is Sowing Seeds of Hope & Joy. This is the text that I preached on in Kenya; I’m not sure if I can adapt what I wrote or whether I have to write a brand new sermon. I will find out as the week progresses!
Don’t forget to send your SPOTTING JOY pictures in!
On Saturday, I participated in a workshop at Stairs United Church entitled Learning to Speak About Our Faith in a Post-Christian World. The Rev. Dr. Rob Fennell did a great job giving us an overview on secularism and spirituality today along with some exercises to help us share our faith with friends, neighbours, and co-workers. And look at the FLEXIBLE worship space!

My Week
Monday – Finalized the the Parables series, created the bulletin, updated the website.
Tuesday – Spent a short time at Food Bank, drafted a new counting guide for recording offerings etc., did some work for the Association of Ministers, attended a Continuing Education Committee meeting at the Atlantic School of Theology.
Wednesday – I’m working on a book review for Touchstone Magazine, the Leadership Team meets this evening, and welcomes new Congregational Connector Dianne Cleveland! She will be the connector for Mission and Community Connections.
Thursday – I’ll either adapt or create a new reflection! And create my Leaders copy of the bulletin, along with whatever bits and pieces are left to do, whatever emails come in, whatever the phone brings.
