Monday Message – April 17, 2023

I parked my car at the Woodside Ferry Terminal again this morning and walked along the Waterfront Trail to the church. It’s a great way to get some exercise while listening to a podcast about the readings for Sunday! This is one of the many colourful murals that are found on the backside of buildings along the trail.

In worship, we continue with our Unearthing Joy theme, this week is the story of Doubting Thomas, or as I like to think of him, Questioning Thomas! The central question I have right now (it’s only Monday!) is can we find joy in our doubts? And since Earth Day is Saturday, April 22nd, I will be attempting to connect that too. Below is an Earth Day Bingo card; have some fun with it, see how many things you can check off this week.
The Wednesday morning Spiritual Deepening Group has decided to continue for the next few weeks, but the focus has shifted to exploring the biblical passage for the upcoming Sunday, this week’s is John 20: 19-31. This week includes bulletin preparation, Food Bank, my weekly meeting with Cathy, writing a report for the Official Board, finishing the Core Values Workshop, attending a Food Scarcity Forum at Christ Church, a couple of meetings with folks from the congregation, I’ve also got some wider church responsibilities this week: The financial reports for the Association of United Church Clergy and a Future Directions Committee meeting. And of course, Sunday always rolls around, so there is sermon writing.
