Midweek Message – September 10

I’m back! 😉 Most of you know that I wound up having an emergency appendectomy this summer; thankfully we were home from PEI! I spent most of the next two weeks on the deck under the pergola. Between that an wildfire smoke induced migraines, (I stopped sitting on the deck!) the rest of the summer was a bit of a loss. I did get to spend some time with my youngest granddaughter, I learned rug hooking, my husband and I took a tour of Oak Island (he’s a LONG time fan) and we made a quick trip to Yarmouth, Lunenburg and Shelbourne last week. I also worshipped at a variety of churches and was nourished spiritually by all of them.

My goodness Tuesday was quite a reentry! News of deaths, illness, hate mail, people in need…. I felt a bit overwhelmed. I often say, ministry is many things, but never boring. So, the last two days have been full of putting the bulletin together, doing some planning for worship and Study Groups, following up on ALL the emails that came in over the summer, phone calls, meeting with Cathy, making arrangements for meetings.

Worship – The scripture reading this week is Genesis 27:1-4, 15-23; 28:10-17; We’ll be exploring some of Jacob’s story. How he gets a blessing by trickery, flees, dreams of a ladder with angels ascending and descending, wrestles with God and ultimately receives God’s promise. I have NO idea where God may lead me with this passage this week, but I trust that something will appear before Sunday morning!
