Midweek Message – June 25, 2025

This will be my last message until September, I may post on my personal blog occasionally over the summer. the summer schedule is below.

We had a great time at Open Streets Dartmouth last Sunday! So many people expressed appreciation for our ministry and presence.

The Leadership Team had a productive meeting with folks from the regional Future Directions Committee; they have recommended to the Regional Property Committee that we be allowed to proceed with a sale and renovation. They are meeting Thursday morning and have promised to call me following their meeting. So the Leadership Team is meeting late afternoon on Thursday to try and deal with all the details that I have to be present for before I go on vacation. Take a look at this beautiful, traditional sanctuary, with the pews removed and imagine how our space could be flexible and used for so many things.

We had our last Wellness Wednesday for Seniors today (last of the season anyway) with a Pharmacy Student in to talk about what your local pharmacy can provide as well as what the designated Primary Care pharmacies can provide. A very interesting and informative session. Click HERE for a link to all the locations in HRM.

You know you’ve been around the church for a while when you’ve met all the nominees for Moderator, at least in passing. General Council opened last weekend with an on-line service as well as procedural motions, I invite you to pray for the commissioners as they discuss and discern a myriad of things this summer. You can read about this and other UCC news HERE.

Just a few more things before I can put my ‘away on vacation’ message on my email. Thursday morning Dean and I are going to play our way through some of the new hymnbook; I have played through about half of them already and found about 25 that I like, so we will be introducing new ones in the fall. I’ve got a lunch time gathering with some colleagues and then the Leadership Team meeting.

I often say that there is no ‘down time’ in Intentional Interim Ministry. If it’s not a ‘high’ season in the church, we are working intensely and intentionally on goals and processes. Which is part of the reason why I negotiated an additional (unpaid) month of vacation. I need the extended time to recharge, recuperate, and this summer, I’m aware that I may be called back to deal with the sale of the hall.
