It’s Scouting Sunday this week, so we will have some Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, their parents and leaders joining us and taking part in the service. St. James has a long history of sponsoring the Scouts and this annual service helps remind everyone that they are not just another user of our facility, but part of our ministry. As I prepared for the service, I was struck by the connection between the Scout Law and Promises and the Fruits of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5, so I’ve written a 2 person dialogue that Joyce and I are going to do together. We’ll also hear from one of the older scouts about what scouting means to them.
You remember the video of Bishop Mariann Budde at the Washington National Cathedral asking President Trump to have mercy and the outcry that engendered. Click here for her video response to the thousands of letters/cards of support she received. I am pleased to tell you that I sent her one.
Instead of giving you a daily rundown this week, I’m going to break my week down into our Core Values statement.
