Midweek Message – January 29

My day started off with an email from the speaker for Wellness Wednesday letting me know that he wouldn’t be able to make as school was being dismissed 2 hours early and he had to pick up his daughter at noon. So, some consultation with Joan Clark about whether or not to go ahead at all given the forecast and we decided to cancel, but be on hand with lunch just in case some folks showed up. So updating the website, Facebook pages and various community pages, along with a call to Souper Douper to see if we could cancel the soup order, an email to the yoga instructor, Joan calling all the folks who had agreed to help set up that they didn’t need to come. All this before 8:30! Joan had made some soup and brought rolls and Jackie came along to help I had made cookies, one person showed up, so we had a lovely lunch and conversation in the parlour.

I had a wild ride home shortly after 2; the windows in my office are frosted, so I don’t know what the weather is like unless I go to the door, when I did, I decided I should head home.

The scripture reading this week is a continuation of last week’s reading, you remember where Jesus spoke in the temple, revealing his purpose and mission. You will hear what happens next! It’s Luke 4: 21-30 where after hearing the message of liberation and inclusivity, the people want to throw Jesus off a cliff.

On Tuesday, the words, ‘hold on to hope’, kept echoing in my head and I wound up writing a new hymn, we’ll be singing it on Sunday. There are few things that give me more hope than my perennial garden. this is photo of hyacinth returning last spring.

It’s been a week! And if you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that you’re not alone. I created a ‘Hold On to Hope’ calendar for February; it will be available on Sunday, but if you would like to download before then, you can.

Diana Butler Bass wrote a very helpful article; I’ve posted the link below and hopefully you can open it. I think it’s one of her free articles. https://open.substack.com/pub/dianabutlerbass/p/what-are-we-going-to-do?r=1vi6k&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false
