Midweek Message – January 8

We have a special service this Sunday around hymns and music! Jackie Clark is leading worship while I take a Sunday off that I am owed from the summer. There will be reflections on three different hymns by Shirley O’Sullivan, Dianne Cleveland and Lynne Travers. You’ll also be singing them!

We are ‘undecorating’ this week… it’s always a little sad when all the lights and decorations are taken down. However, it’s part of the rythme of the seasons, both seasonal and liturgical. And, despite the chill of January, light is returning! Here is a song that is meant to be sung on the solstice, but is appropriate any time until the daylight hours start shrinking again.

Did you get a star word? What did you think about it? They are still available for the next couple of weeks. Mine for this year is magnify! And like I always do, I’ve taped it to the business card holder on my desk, to ponder, to pray, to wonder. I’m going to try and be a bit more intentional about reflecting on it and I hope you will be too. Perhaps during the season of Easter, I’ll invite some folks to share some of the ponderings about their star stories

The week has been full… Tuesday Pause, Food Bank, a meeting with the Transition Team, a gathering via Zoom of Canadian Interim Ministers, a regional meeting, the usual bulletin prep and administrative tasks, although no sermon prep this week! Emails, phone calls and conversations…
