Worship – I am going to share some of my experience of Hunger on the Hill, the Canadian Foodgrains Bank event that I participated in Ottawa while on Study Leave. It links nicely with World Food Day which was October 16th, which we didn’t mark, but will on Sunday.
Scripture – 1 Kings 17:1-16 – This is the story of Elijah and the widow, and God’s care for those on the margins.
Mark your calendars for our Christmas Event! Sunday, December 15th @ 2 pm.
It’s the Christmas Story in story and song; not only will we have our own Choir and Bell Choir participating, but we have folks from Accents Music and Ekko Mindful Music joining. I’m so excited about this community celebration.
What my week has been like!

Sunday – After the service and congregational meeting, I headed to Bethany United Church to attend the Covenanting Service of Martha Martin. Martha is a long time colleague and friend and I am delighted that she is back in HRM from five years in ministry in Toronto. Here she is with David Hewitt, the Regional Pastoral Relations Minister.
Monday – I created the weekly Facebook posts that are based on my Sunday reflections, and scheduled them, sent out my reflection after adding your responses, did some research and study for this coming Sunday on the scripture passage, and in the evening attended a webinar entitled Addressing the Bullying of Clergy, this was sponsored by Broadview Magazine after an article on clergy bullying was published and had immense response.

Tuesday – Food Bank for a bit, met with Cathy, put together the bulletin, helped a colleague with some tech issues she was having, led the Contemplative Service in the evening. A BIG thank you to Wilf Laybolt who removed the wooden welcome sign and hung the banners in the entryway.
Wednesday – We had a VERY successful second Wellness Wednesday for Seniors! I had to make a quick phone call to Souper Douper to increase the soup order! Bonnie Hudson gave a short presentation on healthy eating and provided a recipe. It was good to see so many folks back from last time and also some new faces, we had 33 people!

I’ve had a Zoom call in the afternoon with the Executive Minister, the Regional Minister, and chairs of a number of other regional committees, regarding some ministry/work that crosses a bunch of committee lines and responsibilities, a Zoom call with other Intentional Interim ministers at supper time, and this evening is the final Zoom meeting with the group from Hunger on the Hill.
That’s three evenings this week I have had ministry stuff happening! At least 1 too many.
Thursday – I’m having both flu and Covid shots in the morning, I’ll get the Power Points done, and will spend the rest of the day writing a draft of my reflection for Sunday. And of course, dealing with anything else that winds up on my desk…
