Thoughtful Thursday! October 24

I’m back from Ottawa and will be back in the pulpit on Sunday.

Worship: We are marking All Saints Day, remembering the ‘saints’ in our lives; you are invited to bring in photos of your loved ones that you would like remembered.

Scripture is 1 Kings 5:1-5; 8:27-30, 41-43 and I have NO idea where I will go yet… I didn’t have a minute to think about preaching while I was away.

It’s also the Congregational Meeting immediately following worship, where we there a number of things on the agenda:

  • Approving an extension of my time with you
  • Approving a new governance model
  • Electing members of the new leadership team
  • Electing a Trustee.

The governance change was part of the Interim work and was worked on my members of the Official Board, the Transition Team and our former regional representative to the Transition Team. It has the support of the Official Board, has been approved by the region and now needs congregational approval. Please plan to stay and be part of these important decisions.

Please also ponder where God might be calling you to serve as part of this new model.

Hunger on the Hill was intense, challenge, and inspiring! I will be processing it for a while. We will focus on World Hunger Day in worship NEXT week with material from Canadian Foodgrains Bank and I will share some of my experiences then.

This is the group of us at the end of the day after meeting with MPs and going to Question Period, before a reception and a debriefing session.
