Ah September… so much start up… even when we’re not in school!
Worship this week starts the Season of Creation series; this week focusing on the earth as a whole. The choir has a piece to share. With a new season, all the music changes, the opening and closing, as well as a new song to learn: Called By Earth and Sky, you can listen to it on YouTube. We’ll be singing it for the next 4 weeks.
Scripture Genesis 1: 1-25; one of the creation stories. Did you know that there is more than one?
Reflection: And God Saw That It Was Good!
As I read and reread that scripture passage, I noticed that the phrase ‘And God saw that it was good’ kept on repeating over and over. And as I pondered, I wondered what God would say now about creation? I’m not sure where my study and contemplating will take me, but that’s where I am today.
My Week!
Monday was Labour Day… it’s so hard to hold on to a day off with a funeral in the offing, especially when it’s not nice outside and my deck chairs or gardens aren’t calling me, so I spent a bit time getting ready for the week.
Tuesday – Food Bank, a meeting with Cathy to reconnect and take a look at the fall schedule (!!!) and all the things that are starting up. I created the bulletin, wrote my funeral reflection. As an aside, a funeral adds about 12 hours to my week, so in a short week, that’s a real squeeze!
Wednesday – I’ve been doing some research for my Sunday reflection, created the PP for Sunday (advance notice, in 2025, someone else is going to have to take on this task). Working on the outline and PP for the Contemplative Service, and going to take some posters around for Wellness Wednesdays for Seniors and the Contemplative Service to various places in the community. I hope to be out of here by 3 because I have a Transition Team meeting this evening.

Thursday – I’ll preside over the funeral of Margaret Teasdale, followed by the committal. Then in the evening the United Churches for Dartmouth are meeting at Woodlawn United.
So… it looks as if I will be writing at least part of my Sunday reflection on the weekend…
I received word on Tuesday that I was chosen to be part of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank ‘Hunger on the Hill’ group this year. This is an annual event about food security and climate change in Canada and around the world. You can read more about it HERE. So, I’ll be taking my last week of Study Leave in October and heading to Ottawa for workshops and meeting with MPs.
