I’m home! If things had gone according to plan, we would be leaving Ontario today and home on Friday, however… due to the wildfire in Jasper, our train was cancelled and we flew back to Ontario from Vancouver on Friday, where we had left our car with friends. As you can imagine, this was a HUGE disappointment. I look forward to seeing folks on Sunday!
This week starts our ‘Reel Theology’ series, connecting faith and film. Our first movie is Maudie, the fictionalized story of Maud Lewis. If you have Netflix, you can watch it before Sunday, but there’s no need, I’ll give a little recap of the movie during my reflection.
Scripture: Isaiah 40: 28-31 & 2 Corinthians 4: 7-12
Reflection: The Persistence of Beauty

Those of you who are on Facebook know that I’ve been walking and gardening a great deal these past 2 months. I always forget from one year to the next how physically demanding gardening is! But I love going out to the garden to pick veggies for lunch or supper. The deer have discovered the great buffet during our absence!!!
Part of my time way was Study Leave; I participated in the Atlantic Seminar in Theological Education at the Tatamagouche Centre, this year the theme was Bridges to Hope: Connecting Spirituality and Imagination. You can find the writeup I did for them HERE.
I’ve also spent a fair bit of time on my deck reading and pondering what my last five years of ministry will look like. And what are the most important things to invest my time and energy in. I have no answers, but will be meeting with my clergy coach next week and hope to start finding some clarity.
