It’s been a busy week! It was wonderful to see so many folks gathered on Wednesday to support Dick Chittick and his family; it’s always a privilege to be allowed into such sacred spaces.
We are marking Remembrance Day in worship this week with a slide show, a special display, special music and the Act of Remembrance. The scripture 1 Kings 18:17-39, again, not something I’ve preached on in my more than 25 years of preaching and my reflection title is Start Close In. It’s based on something Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish said at a presentation he made over a decade ago in Halifax and it stuck with me. With the situation in Gaza and Israel at heartbreaking/heartrending proportions, and we may be feeling helpless, his words, “Start close in” may be more important than ever. More on that on Sunday!
Also on Sunday is the Listening Circles Report! I hope you’ll all stay and hear the results and participate in the next steps.
You may or may not know that the Official Board and Transition Team worked on a Behavioural Covenant for the congregation this past winter. Two large posters have been made and arrived this week! One for the lower Hall and one for the Parlour.
